Mineral extractor pipes

Checked 2026-11-05 · Lightyear Frontier 1.0

The search is specific: the mineral extractor is sitting on a vein and the pipe will not make a production line. This page is the wiring. The building itself, with its unlock story, is on the mineral extractor page.

Country Roads on 17 November 2025 added the Mineral Extractor. You place it beside a large deposit and it adds extra ore each day. It is a bonus on a vein, not a robot that wanders off to mine the map. Daily counts, stack limits, and the exact distance to the vein were not published.

The 0.8 pipe pieces, still the carriers

In 0.8 a Connector Pipe unlocked at Milestone 9 and joined one building's output to another's input. It could carry crafting resources and water. A Pipe Splitter turned one output into several. A Pipe Merger did the reverse. Those three parts are the vocabulary of every old tutorial.

1.0 changes the middle of the line. Automation Pipes can pull from storage, so ore can move toward a furnace or a crate without an Automator in between. The launch notes replace the Automator's job. They do not publish a new parts list that erases splitters and mergers.

A practical line, stated only as far as those sources go: extractor beside the vein, pipe toward storage or a furnace, splitter if two buildings should share one output, merger if two veins should feed one furnace. Exact power draw is unpublished. Check the power guide for why a line feels slow rather than stopped.

Questions

Does the extractor mine by itself anywhere?

No. It sits by a large deposit and adds daily ore. It is not a roaming miner.

Do I still need an Automator in the line?

No. 1.0 pipes pull from storage. The Automator was removed.

What is the daily ore count?

Not published. I am not estimating it.
