Best base locations in 1.0

Checked 2026-11-05 ยท Lightyear Frontier 1.0

People want a flat pad and a pin. What changed in 1.0 is the map itself. Sandswept and Hollow Marsh arrived together and the developers described the world as about 40 percent larger. Both areas unlock at the start of a 1.0 save and are tuned for later play.

The Sandswept post calls the region wide open plains that suit a large endgame farm, with cliffs and ruins for vertical exploring. Hollow Marsh sits among those cliffs: fog, blue grass, red water, a bayou mood. If your 0.8 list of flat spots only knew the first three regions, it is incomplete now. It is not wrong about the old ground. It is silent about the new ground.

Home Area, added in Shifting Gears, is the base idea that still matters: crafting, coziness, and fast travel hang off it. A pretty plateau that is not your home area will not give you those. Water, a nearby vein, and the walk back to travel are the criteria I will name. A ranked pin would pretend I surveyed tiles

Outset Grasslands is still the starting homestead. Frostpeak is the cold gate behind noxious slime. Hexagon Valley is the old endgame bowl. The new plains are the 1.0 answer to needing more flat farm, with the warning that the tuning is late even if the gate is open.

Questions

Where is the flattest new land?

The official Sandswept description says wide open plains for a large endgame farm. I have no tile coordinates.

Can I start in Hollow Marsh?

Both new areas unlock at the start of a 1.0 save and are tuned for later play.

Do old flat-spot guides still work?

They describe the pre-1.0 regions. They do not cover Sandswept or Hollow Marsh.
