Mech upgrades and the old two-part limit

Checked 2026-11-05 ยท Lightyear Frontier 1.0

The search only 2 mech parts is a 0.8 slot complaint. 1.0 rebuilds customization so tools, body parts, and transform modes are upgrade paths. You do not craft every tier as a loose part and then jam it into a tiny slot list. Each tool has its own slot and a set path. Tools carry stats, and upgrades raise them. Secondary abilities open as the main path advances.

Power costs on tools, parts, and modes were removed. Mod power is relatively more roomy, and mod chips hit harder because the total number of mod slots went down. A store screenshot that shows a power fraction is a marketing frame, not a patch note.

Old saves do not reset. Mods stay. You receive parts equal to your highest tier. Left and right arms, left and right legs, and the engine and windshield were merged as mechanics, while the look of those pieces can still be chosen separately. Transform modes are no longer slot-limited. Once unlocked they sit on the transform wheel. Appearance still unlocks when you upgrade a part to the next tier. Vintage pieces are the cosmetic case of that rule, on their own page.

Questions

Why could I equip only two parts?

That was the old slot limit. 1.0 uses upgrade paths instead of a short slot list.

Do I reset my save?

No. Mods remain, and parts are granted to match your highest tier.

Do transform modes take slots?

Not in 1.0. Unlocked modes live on the transform wheel.
