Mech mods and mod crafting

Checked 2026-11-05 · Lightyear Frontier 1.0

A mech mod in 1.0 is a chip on the suit, crafted and equipped in the game. It is not a file you drop in a folder. The customization screen on the Steam store shot shows Mods Crafting as its own tab next to Appearance. The numbers on a marketing screenshot are not patch notes.

The launch notes say tools, parts, and modes lost their power cost, while mod power is relatively more generous. Chips themselves are stronger because the total slot count went down. You can equip a mod directly from crafting. Old saves keep their mods and receive parts equal to the highest tier you had reached. 0 chip recipe, so this page will not fake a best-in-slot ranking.

Nickel and crystal dust are the materials older wiki recipes used for chips. Those recipes are 0.8 until a 1.0 list replaces them. The nickel page and the yellow-crystal page are where the ingredients live. Stacking questions belong there only when the wiki actually names the chip. Seed stacking and the minigun are called out on the seed shooter page because the 1.0 notes name them.
