Is 1.0 worth buying?
Checked 2026-11-05 · Lightyear Frontier 1.0
Worth it depends on whether you want a slow mech farm. The list price in the FAQ is $29.99. On 5 November 2026 the US Steam page showed $23.99. You are not buying a raid defense game. The store says no enemy raids, no hunger, no lost progress. You are buying co-op for up to four people online, pipes instead of the old automator, two new regions, and a story ending you can play past.
Game*Spark rated the 1.0 release 9/10 on 5 November 2026. Shacknews published a separate 1.0 review on 4 November, praising the mech-based farming loop while noting that removing some survival pressure made the experience less compelling for that reviewer. These are independent published opinions, presented separately from older early-access reviews. Steam language filters and review counts change, so they are not combined into an invented 1.0 aggregate here.
Difficulty presets matter more than a single score. Creative and Relaxed are the low-pressure switches. Challenging is the one for people who want the farm to push back. Game Pass is no longer a way to sample it. If you already own early access, 1.0 costs you nothing more.
