Legacy branch or version 1.0
Checked 2026-11-05 · Lightyear Frontier 1.0
Legacy is a branch, not a campaign and not a DLC. The FAQ says 1.0 contains none of the Legacy branch's updates, and the Legacy branch itself is not receiving new updates. 1.0 continues from the end of the Automation Update. If your 0.8 save had already caught up, you can walk into the endgame. The studio suggests a new save for a more natural balance and does not require it.
Owning early access is enough. You do not purchase 1.0 as a second product. Whether the Legacy branch is still downloadable, and whether it still supports multiplayer, is not in the FAQ paragraphs The place to look is Steam's branch list.
Questions
Is Legacy a story mode?
No. It is the older branch. 1.0 is the current game and has the new ending.
Do Legacy fixes come to 1.0?
The FAQ says 1.0 does not include Legacy-branch changes.
Must I restart?
Saves carry over. A new save is recommended, not required.
